Beyond Good & Evil 2 remains in active development, according to a recent update from a Ubisoft writer. Rik Godwin, associate narrative director and lead writer at Ubisoft Bordeaux, shared on social media that he has been working on the game in a support and consultant capacity for several months.
Godwin, who also served as a writer for Assassin's Creed Shadows, stated that he had confirmed his ability to share this information. Ubisoft Bordeaux's involvement suggests a collaborative effort, as the studio is geographically close to Ubisoft Montpellier, the primary developer for Beyond Good & Evil 2. While Ubisoft Bordeaux has taken lead roles on titles like Assassin's Creed Mirage and its upcoming expansion, it often functions in a supporting capacity for other Ubisoft projects.
This update arrives nearly a decade after Beyond Good & Evil 2 was re-revealed at E3 2017 and almost 20 years after its initial announcement in May 2008. Despite sporadic hints of progress from Ubisoft in late 2025 and early 2026, development has been notably slow. No release date has been provided, and Ubisoft has consistently maintained that the game will eventually be released, though it may not arrive within the current console generation.
