Developers at House House have stated there are currently no plans for downloadable content or expansions for their cooperative puzzler, Big Walk. In a recent Reddit AMA, the team indicated a need for rest following the significant effort involved in creating the game.
"We're not really sure what Big Walk's future looks like - getting this far took heaps of work and a long time!" wrote level designer and artist Jake Strasser. "We need a good rest before we start thinking about what's next."
Designer Stuart Gillespie-Cook was more definitive, stating there are "No content plans" for DLC. However, he also expressed hope that the game's world is sufficiently robust for players to devise their own experiences. "But I will say we've had great success playing hide and seek amongst ourselves! We hope the game world is generous enough to make your own games within it," he noted.
This sentiment suggests the game's environments may be vast and detailed enough to support emergent gameplay. Some players have already invented their own activities, such as a "Human Slinky" game involving moving disconnected player characters down stairs. Modders have also begun creating new experiences, with one developer working on a VR mod for the game.
The developers also addressed the absence of local co-op, with programmer Nico Disseldorp explaining that the game's design relies on restricted communication. "Lots of what is interesting about the game comes from one person knowing something (like where they are in the world, or the answer to a challenge) and another player not knowing it, and then trying to find unique ways to share that information," he said. This core mechanic would be undermined in a local co-op setting, where information sharing is typically more direct.
