Bill Skarsgård to Star in Hideo Kojima's Stealth-Action Game 'Physint'

Hideo Kojima has announced that actor Bill Skarsgård will lead the cast of his upcoming stealth-action game, Physint. The game designer revealed the casting on social media, also confirming the return of legendary artist Yoji Shinkawa for character and mechanical design. This news comes as Physint transitions from PlayStation to Xbox as its publisher.

Skarsgård joins previously announced cast members Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe. Kojima shared a new poster for Physint featuring the main cast and the tagline "The Next Cold War Begins." Shinkawa, a longtime collaborator with Kojima and former character artist for the Metal Gear series, also worked on Death Stranding and his involvement in Physint offers a point of continuity following recent production shifts.

Fraser, Lee, and Hamabe were initially confirmed for the game's cast in an earlier announcement from Kojima Productions. Skarsgård's casting as the lead, John Physint, is the newest addition to the lineup. While Kojima had initially hoped to cast Robert Pattinson, Skarsgård's performance in the 2024 film Nosferatu suggests he may bring a similarly intense presence to the role.

The move to Xbox as publisher follows reports that Sony had dropped Physint due to budget overruns and missed deadlines. It remains unclear if Kojima will continue to utilize Sony and Guerilla Games' proprietary Decima engine, which powered Death Stranding, potentially impacting the game's already distant release.

Kojima's other upcoming project, O.D., also published by Xbox, appears to be closer to release. Its "Knock" trailer from last year evoked themes reminiscent of the canceled Silent Hills demo, P.T.
