Developer Polydin Studio has announced Black Lake, a new first-person psychological survival horror game. The title is set to launch on PC in Winter 2027, with console versions to follow in mid-2027.
Black Lake places players in the role of Elena, who returns to an abandoned orphanage after receiving a message from her missing twin sister, Rita. The orphanage, however, is not empty. Developers describe the setting as a place where "halls are still warm, the bells are ringing again, and something has been moving through the walls." As Elena searches for Rita, she will uncover the truth behind a forbidden ritual connected to the disappearance of children and staff from the orphanage years prior.
Gameplay will involve navigating the perilous environment with limited resources. Players will utilize tools such as a phone, candles, and a lantern, with light playing a crucial role in survival. Some creatures are said to be repelled by the scent of burning wax. The game will feature puzzles centered around rituals and environmental interaction. Players will need to hide, distract, and evade terrifying creatures that are described as manifestations of the orphanage's missing children and staff, as the player character's weapons will be limited.
The game is currently available to wishlist on Steam.
