Marvel Studios has officially confirmed the development of Black Panther 3, with a target release date of December 15, 2028. The announcement was made during Marvel's panel at San Diego Comic Con.

British actor David Jonsson has been cast as the son of T'Challa, a character previously seen as a child in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Jonsson, who has also appeared in "Alien: Romulus" and "The Long Walk," is set to inherit the Black Panther title. Letitia Wright is expected to return as Shuri, and Winston Duke will reprise his role as M'Baku.

Director Ryan Coogler has been involved in the project's planning, having previously revealed that a part was written specifically for Denzel Washington. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige also acknowledged that Black Panther 3 was in development. Coogler expressed his long-standing admiration for Washington, calling him "the greatest living actor."

The first Black Panther film achieved significant commercial success, grossing $1.35 billion worldwide, while its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, earned $859 million following a retooling after the passing of original star Chadwick Boseman.
