BlazBlue: Central Fiction Receives New DLC Character a Decade After Launch

Arc System Works is expanding the roster of its 2015 fighting game, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, with a new DLC character. The announcement was made during the developer's 2026 showcase via a brief teaser trailer, though specific details about the character were not provided.

The full reveal is scheduled to take place at EVO 2026 this weekend. BlazBlue: Central Fiction producer Riku Ozawa confirmed the addition during the showcase, stating that the new development was made possible by the ongoing support from the game's global fanbase. Ozawa noted that the decision to develop this DLC character was made "very recently," and explained that while typically an announcement would be held until in-game footage was available, he wanted to share the news as soon as possible.

Ozawa did confirm that the new character will be someone who has previously appeared in the main BlazBlue series. BlazBlue: Central Fiction, developed by Arc System Works, was originally released in arcades in late 2015, followed by PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 ports in late 2016. The game has since been released on PC and Nintendo Switch.
