Blizzard has unveiled World of Warcraft: Forever, a new game edition that aims to expand upon the original vanilla World of Warcraft experience. This reimagining of the 2004 era introduces new and revamped zones, a significant addition of 1,000 quests across the entire 1-60 level range, nine new dungeons, and raids designed for 10 to 20 players. A notable feature is the introduction of a new playable neutral elven race, the Skyborne.

World of Warcraft: Forever will also offer several new gameplay features, including an SD/HD character model toggle and expanded race and class combinations, with the trailer showcasing an Undead Paladin. Players can expect additional skills and talents, alongside new reputations that grant access to unique items and account-wide perks. Three entirely new zones—Mount Hyjal, Zephras Isle, and The Riverglades—are being added, along with a new battleground located on the Darkspear Islands. While details on which existing zones have been overhauled are scarce, Blizzard has confirmed enhancements to the game's engine, including new lighting, global illumination, volumetric particle effects, an improved water renderer, and real-time shadows.

A beta for World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to launch on Thursday, September 17. The full release is slated for November 4. Further details about this new edition are expected to be revealed throughout various panels at BlizzCon this weekend.
