Blizzard Entertainment has reportedly emerged as the top-performing studio within Xbox's portfolio, according to recent communications from Blizzard president Johanna Faries. These internal emails, shared with staff ahead of BlizzCon, highlight a successful fiscal year that saw Blizzard achieve its third-highest top-line revenue in its history.

Faries attributed this strong performance to "Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred and Overwatch," which she stated "drove exceptional performance." Overwatch, in particular, delivered its strongest quarterly results since 2022. While not explicitly cited for growth, World of Warcraft also saw the release of a new expansion earlier this year, contributing to the studio's overall activity.

This news comes as Blizzard has experienced consecutive years of growth since fiscal year 2017. The studio's ability to manage multiple popular live-service games, including World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and Diablo, appears to be a significant factor in its success. While individual titles may not rival industry juggernauts, their combined output generates substantial engagement and revenue for Microsoft.

The fiscal year ending in 2026 was declared by Faries as Blizzard's "biggest year yet," with an ambition to become the "best gaming and entertainment company in the world." This sentiment is expected to be reflected in the upcoming BlizzCon event, scheduled for September 12-13. The convention is anticipated to feature numerous announcements regarding the future of the Warcraft, Overwatch, and Diablo franchises, with persistent rumors also suggesting a potential reveal for a new StarCraft game.
