The upcoming Warhammer Blood Bowl, slated for release by the end of the year as a free upgrade for owners of Blood Bowl 3, will feature a much-improved AI, according to Cyanide programmer Mathieu Valero. This enhancement addresses a significant point of contention for players, as Valero revealed that between 70 and 80% of Blood Bowl 3 games were played solo in Eternal Leagues.
Valero candidly admitted that Blood Bowl 3's launch state was "a mess." A key area of focus for the new iteration is the AI, which was previously rudimentary. "We didn't have an AI—now we do," Valero stated. While acknowledging that certain factions and builds will still be more effective for the AI, he explained that by providing reliable options like Guard and Block, players can expect a more engaging single-player experience that avoids overly complex combinations only a human player could manage.
Beyond the AI, the user interface is also receiving a substantial overhaul. The game's menus were described as "ugly," and the homepage, which was "a gigantic waste of space," will now be a customizable set of tiles. This change aims to streamline navigation, allowing players to easily return to ongoing competitions by pinning them to their home screen, eliminating the need to search through submenus.
Warhammer Blood Bowl is being published by Slitherine. The transition to the new title will be a free upgrade for existing Blood Bowl 3 owners, with a release planned before the year's end.
