The upcoming vampire RPG, Blood of Dawnwalker, has garnered a strong critical reception ahead of its September 2 launch. The game currently holds an aggregate score of 83 out of 100 on Metacritic, a result that creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz described as a "great relief".

Tomaszkiewicz, who previously held significant roles at CD Projekt, including lead quest designer on The Witcher 3 and game director on Gwent, shared his feelings on social media platform X. "Waiting for the reviews to come in has been nerve wrecking to say the least, but they're finally (mostly) here!" he posted. "Great relief, can't wait to see you all play the game and to hear your thoughts! It's a privilege to work with such a talented Team @RebelWolvesDevs."

Several former colleagues from CD Projekt Red, where Tomaszkiewicz spent many years, extended their congratulations. Among them were Cyberpunk 2 associate game director Paweł Sasko, The Witcher 4 game director Sebastian Kalemba, level design lead Miles Tost, CD Projekt global communications director Marcin Momot, and Witcher and Cyberpunk composer P.T. Adamczyk. Developers from other studios, such as former Kingdom Come: Deliverance director Daniel Vavra and Obsidian's Mikey Dowling, also offered their support.

Blood of Dawnwalker is available for pre-purchase on Steam and GOG, with its official release scheduled for 6 p.m. ET on September 2.
