Brave New Wonders, a Robot Command Factory Builder, Launches Tomorrow

The factory building and automation game Brave New Wonders is set to launch tomorrow, September 21. The game allows players to command legions of robots using direct text commands, enabling the construction and automation of complex production lines.

As revealed in a trailer during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, the game operates on the principle of programming machines to perform specific tasks. Players can write commands in plain English, or other supported languages, and the in-game robots will execute them as programmed. This approach bypasses the need for traditional manual supply chain setup, allowing players to simply instruct robots to move items between designated points, such as from a warehouse to a turret.

The game blends elements of factory building with city building, set in a post-apocalyptic future where players must mine and refine resources to rebuild society. Players will be able to link multiple factories and logistics routes, with the ability to copy and paste large-scale layouts. Robots will retain their programmed instructions even when moved to new configurations, reducing micromanagement unless players wish to alter their commands.

Brave New Wonders also incorporates defensive elements. Players will encounter hostile machines roaming the world, necessitating the placement of turrets to protect bases. Expansion into new territories will require clearing obstacles, potentially using explosives.

The game is available to wishlist on Steam and launches on September 21.
