Mike Klubnika, the creator of the surprise hit Buckshot Roulette, is preparing to unleash his next title, Machine Party. This new game plunges players into a series of chaotic and often deadly "Squid Game"-like trials, drawing comparisons to the often-lethal minigames found in Nintendo's Mario Party series. Up to four players can compete in over a dozen unique gauntlets where survival is the primary objective.
Unlike some of the more cooperative challenges, such as navigating a minefield together, many of Machine Party's minigames are designed to pit players directly against one another. These trials range from enduring an out-of-control escalator to racing to construct a large projectile weapon to eliminate opponents. The overall tone and aesthetic, described as "loud, rusted out belly of hell," aligns with Klubnika's previous work, which often features unsettling body horror elements.
Buckshot Roulette, Klubnika's previous game, became a commercial success on Steam, renowned for its tense, item-strategy-based Russian roulette gameplay. The developer later added a multiplayer mode to that title. Machine Party appears to continue this trend of confrontational party games, incorporating scenarios like drones executing players for subpar art projects or a robotic spider performing "unlicensed chiropractic techniques." Other minigames mentioned include a competitive pea-eating challenge and a cigarette-smoking contest, reflecting a humorous nod to the perceived "golden age of cigarette gaming."
