Following the initial announcement that live support for Destiny 2 would cease, players organized various campaigns to express their desire for the franchise's continuation. These efforts included review-bombing Bungie's other upcoming game, Marathon, a coordinated server takeover that resulted in Destiny 2's highest player count in two years, and overwhelming non-Sony livestreams with requests for new Destiny content. Bungie explicitly acknowledged these actions in a website post, stating, "Your voices mattered, and the way you showed up made a real impact. You reminded everyone how much this world, its history, and its future still mean to you."
