Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to begin its pre-release beta testing in August. Activision has outlined a two-part schedule for these playtests, with the first wave exclusively for those who have pre-ordered the game.

This pre-order exclusive period will commence on August 21st and conclude on August 25th. Following this, an open beta will become available to all players, running from August 28th through September 1st. This open beta will not require a game pre-order.

Players participating in the beta will have the opportunity to experience multiple multiplayer maps and modes. The available content will include a selection of new Operators, with those who pre-order the Vault Edition gaining access to all associated Operators. Up to 19 different weapons will be unlockable, supporting various engagement scales from 3v3 skirmishes to larger battles that incorporate tanks.

The beta will also feature new and returning modes, such as Search & Destroy, and a newly introduced mode called Kill Block. Additionally, a Training Mobility Course will be available for players to test their skills.

Kill Block is highlighted as a significant new feature. This multiplayer map is designed as an ever-shifting training course, with sections of the map dynamically changing between match rounds. The aim is to keep players engaged in the 10v10 gunfights by providing an unpredictable environment.

Beyond the multiplayer offerings, the campaign for Modern Warfare 4 is set to explore a conflict between North and South Korea, featuring the return of Captain Price. The full game is scheduled for release on October 23rd. It has also been confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
