The first beta session for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to begin next week, offering players a hands-on experience with this year's installment. While Call of Duty betas traditionally focus on multiplayer content, the official Call of Duty social media accounts have suggested the possibility of a new Warzone Resurgence map being available for testing.

During a recent "From The Ward" docuseries episode highlighting the Kill Block multiplayer map, fans identified a teaser for an unannounced Warzone Resurgence map codenamed "Zodiac." In response to player inquiries about the map's potential reveal date, an official Call of Duty account replied with a cryptic tease: "Find out in....beta?" This indication points towards the beta possibly including the new map.

New Call of Duty titles typically integrate new Warzone maps and content with their first seasonal update, which usually launches one to two months post-release. More details about the "Zodiac" map and the future of Warzone are expected to be revealed at Call of Duty: Next on August 21, an annual event where Activision showcases upcoming games.

The first Modern Warfare 4 beta session is scheduled to go live on August 21, immediately following the Call of Duty: Next presentation. Confirmed content for this initial beta includes a variety of multiplayer maps and game modes. Players will also have the opportunity to unlock up to 19 different weapons, providing a preview of the arsenal available at launch. If a Warzone map is indeed included in the beta, it would mark a first for Call of Duty's battle royale offering.

Beyond multiplayer and potentially Warzone, Modern Warfare 4 will also feature a full campaign and the return of Infinity Ward's DMZ extraction mode, previously seen in the Modern Warfare 2 reboot. The game is slated for release on October 23 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
