The upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 beta will introduce a significant first for the franchise: the inclusion of a single-player campaign mission. This marks a departure from the series' typical beta structure, which has historically focused exclusively on multiplayer offerings.

The mission, titled "Entrenched," will be available for players to experience during the beta's testing periods. Alongside this campaign preview, the beta will also feature a range of multiplayer modes and maps. A new Warzone Resurgence map, "Zodiac," is set to debut during the second weekend of the beta.

The early access beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to run from August 21 to August 25. This initial phase will be accessible to players who have pre-ordered the game on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. The "Entrenched" campaign mission will be playable during this period, as will several multiplayer maps including Rooftops, Silkworm, Transit 213, Cachette, and Kill Block.

Following the early access weekend, an open beta will commence from August 28 to September 1. During this open beta, the "Entrenched" mission will remain available, but the multiplayer offerings will shift. The Lotus map will be replaced by the Lithium map for this second phase. The "Zodiac" Warzone Resurgence map will also make its debut during the open beta weekend. Notably, Nintendo Switch 2 users will also have the opportunity to try Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 during this open beta period.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is slated for a full release on October 23, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S platforms. The inclusion of a campaign mission in the beta represents a new strategy for Activision's long-running first-person shooter franchise, aiming to provide a more comprehensive look at the game prior to launch.
