Activision has confirmed that the notoriously chaotic "Shipment" map will return in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The confirmation came after players spotted the map in the PC version's trailer, leading to a direct announcement from the official Call of Duty account.
Shipment first appeared in 2007's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Its small size, characterized by a maze of shipping containers, often results in intense, rapid firefights and spawn-camping potential, dividing the community between those who enjoy its high-octane action and those who find it frustrating.
The map's inclusion in Modern Warfare 4 continues a tradition, as it has been a recurring feature in many subsequent Call of Duty titles, including Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Mobile.
While Activision has confirmed Shipment's presence in MW4, details regarding its inclusion at launch or as a post-release update remain unconfirmed. Shipment will be one of the 6v6 maps available.
Beyond the return of Shipment, Activision has also announced other quality-of-life improvements for Modern Warfare 4. The game aims to address issues with double XP token functionality and eliminate the persistent "update requires restart" message. Furthermore, a new feature for Warzone will allow players to filter out certain cosmetic items, and the game will introduce a new Counter-Strike-inspired mode.
Modern Warfare 4 is slated for release on October 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. This marks the first Call of Duty release on a Nintendo console since 2013's Call of Duty: Ghosts, and it will also be the first entry since Ghosts to forgo support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
