Activision has confirmed the global release times and preload details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which is set to launch across multiple platforms in the coming weeks.
The full game, including multiplayer, is scheduled for an official release on October 23. However, players who digitally preorder the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition will gain access to the campaign a week earlier, starting October 16. The extraction mode, DMZ, will become available on October 20 for those with preorders.
PC players can expect the game to unlock at midnight local time on the morning of October 23. If the game does not automatically trigger on Steam, fully closing and relaunching the client should resolve the issue.
Preload for Modern Warfare 4 is set to begin on October 14 at 9 p.m. PT. Download times will vary by region, with specific times provided for Los Angeles, Mexico City, New York, London, Warsaw, and other global locations. During the setup process, players can select which content to download, including the option to install Warzone alongside Modern Warfare 4. The new version of Warzone will not be available until the launch of Season 1.
Xbox users may be able to utilize a "New Zealand trick" by changing their console's timezone to New Zealand to potentially access pre-installs and early play. This method involves altering the in-game timezone settings.
For PC, Modern Warfare 4 requires 115GB of available SSD space. Console storage requirements are expected to be similar and will depend on the selected content. The minimum PC requirements include an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon RX 470 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970/1060 GPU with 3GB of video memory. Recommended specifications for 90fps gameplay on high settings suggest an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-8700 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and an AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GPU with 8GB of video memory.
