Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Brings Six New Maps, Weapons, and DMZ Expansion

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to receive its first season of post-launch content on November 6, Activision has announced. Season 1 will introduce six new maps, a variety of new weapons, classic Call of Duty modes, and an expansion to the DMZ extraction mode.

Three maps will be available at the start of Season 1. These include Backstab, set in a snowy village, and Canyon, taking place in a desert environment. The fan-favorite map Shoot House, originally from Modern Warfare (2019), has been reimagined to fit the game's Korean setting while retaining its familiar layout. Three additional maps are planned for release later in the season.

New weaponry will also be added, with some appearing to be inspired by firearms from previous Modern Warfare titles, such as the FMG9 and AA-12. A tomahawk is also expected. Furthermore, new weapon attachments will be available, including a burst attachment for the M4 that will convert it into an M16.

The DMZ mode will see a significant expansion with the addition of X01, an eerie, enclosed facility described as a dimly lit labyrinth of tunnels and passageways. Players venturing into X01 can expect to find high-quality loot, but also significant threats. The expansion also includes new bosses, FOB upgrades, and more loot.

Several classic Call of Duty modes are returning in Season 1, including Infection, Grind, and Drop Zone. A battle pass will accompany the season, offering a range of cosmetic unlocks. Activision has previously committed to maintaining a grounded aesthetic for Modern Warfare 4's skins, and Season 1's offerings appear to align with this promise.
