Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will implement a long-requested change to how Double XP tokens function, ensuring they are only active during actual gameplay. Previously, these tokens began their countdown upon activation, continuing to tick down even in pre-game lobbies where no experience could be earned. This often led to players feeling like they were losing valuable time without making progress.
The upcoming change means that Double XP timers will now exclusively count down while players are actively participating in matches. This adjustment, confirmed by Infinity Ward, aims to provide players with a more efficient and rewarding use of their Double XP tokens, maximizing their impact on progression.
This is one of several player-focused updates Infinity Ward is introducing ahead of Modern Warfare 4's launch. The studio also recently confirmed the addition of a toggle to disable cosmetic skins, allowing players the option to see default character models instead of customized appearances. These moves suggest Infinity Ward is actively addressing community feedback as the game approaches a competitive launch window, which includes facing significant competition from titles like Grand Theft Auto VI later this year.
