Call of Duty's Season 5 roadmap has been unveiled, bringing a host of new content to Black Ops 7 and Warzone. The season, which launches on July 23, features a unique pinball-themed multiplayer map, the return of the Heavy Metal Heroes mode in battle royale, and the final Zombies map to conclude the Black Ops 7 storyline.
New Arsenal and Battle Pass
Season 5 expands the weapon pool with four new additions: the FG42 assault rifle and Gremlin SMG, both available through the battle pass at launch, followed by the Mammoth LMG and Mace melee weapon later in the season. As with previous seasons, players can expect new attachments, camos, and weapon challenges. The Season 5 battle pass offers over 100 unlockable cosmetic items and XP tokens. A premium $10 pass is required for all standard rewards, with an additional $30 BlackCell bundle offering exclusive cosmetics. The battle pass is headlined by Spectre, returning from previous Black Ops titles, with Cipher as the new BlackCell-exclusive operator. Purchasing the battle pass immediately unlocks instant rewards, including an operator skin, a legendary weapon blueprint, an emote, and an animated calling card. Completing the full battle pass will yield an ultra operator skin, another legendary blueprint, COD Points, and further cosmetic rewards.
Limited-Time Events and Multiplayer Offerings
Activision has detailed several limited-time events for Season 5, including a 'Machine of War' event and a special Treyarch-themed event celebrating the studio's 30th anniversary. A Zombies-exclusive leaderboard event for the Eidskallen Lighthouse Survival map is also planned. Further events arriving with the midseason 'Reloaded' update will be announced closer to their release.
Multiplayer will see the addition of five new maps. Jubilee, a 6v6 map set in a rural Japanese town, and Frequency, a remastered 6v6 Black Ops 4 map, arrive at launch. Dig, a remastered small map from Black Ops 2, will also be available. A new small map for 2v2 and 6v6 modes, Turbo Tilt, places players within a Nuketown-themed pinball machine, complete with a moving hazard. Descent, a new map designed for the Freerun mode, rounds out the new additions.
The season introduces two new multiplayer modes. Overdrive Domination challenges players to capture objectives while earning stars through 'stylish' kills—headshots, multikills, and medal acquisitions grant team stars that can unlock buffs like increased perception, movement speed, and weapon handling. Gauntlet Rush features a rotation of five game modes—Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, Hardpoint, and Roulette—each lasting two minutes, with operator enhancements awarded for performance. The popular Cranked mode also makes its Black Ops 7 debut, requiring players to maintain kill streaks to avoid a penalty.
Endgame and Zombies Finale
Black Ops 7's co-op Endgame mode continues with a new assignment, Burn Run, which is a race against time in a bomb-rigged vehicle. Players can add time to the mission timer by running over enemies and objects. Exotic abilities in Endgame can now be boosted with rare enhancements found within item cases.
At launch, Season 5 will include three smaller Zombies experiences: Eidskallen, a survival map on a section of the Totenreich map, and a starting room map for Kowakujo. The Rogue Run mode on Astra Malorum also returns. The midseason Reloaded update will deliver Rex Infernus, the final round-based Zombies map that serves as the story's conclusion, with teaser imagery suggesting a resemblance to Dr. Monty's home from Black Ops 3 Zombies.
Warzone Enhancements
Warzone's Verdansk map receives a new point of interest, Drone Labs, and introduces supply drones that players can shoot down for valuable gear. The fan-favorite Heavy Metal Heroes mode, previously in Blackout, arrives as a limited-time mode in Warzone's battle royale. This 50v50 mode emphasizes heavy vehicle combat and superhero-style powers, where operator eliminations grant abilities like faster movement and armor regeneration. Lootable mobility abilities from Endgame mode, such as Flicker and Kinetic Jump, will also be present.
