Call of Duty: Warzone Introduces Operator Skin Toggle to Hide 'Goofy Skins'

Call of Duty: Warzone will soon offer an Operator Skin toggle, allowing players to disable the appearance of "goofy skins" from other Call of Duty titles. This feature will be implemented starting with Season 1 of the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

When activated, the toggle will replace any Operator or Operator Skin from a previous Call of Duty game with a Modern Warfare 4 Operator for all players, including enemies, party members, and squadmates, both in lobbies and during matches. The player's own chosen Operator will remain unchanged. This toggle affects only the individual player's experience and will be set to OFF by default.

Activision confirmed that Operators and weapons from Modern Warfare 2, Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 will still be accessible in Warzone from Season 1 onward. This includes any skins, blueprints, and camos that players have acquired. The company stated that existing carry-forward plans for these titles remain unaffected.

Activision acknowledged that while some players enjoy the variety of cross-title content, others prefer Warzone to align more closely with the latest release. The decision to implement this toggle was partly influenced by player feedback, with some fans expressing dissatisfaction with the perceived "Fortnite-ification" of Call of Duty due to increasingly unconventional operator skins. This move follows Activision's stated commitment to "grounded skins" in Modern Warfare 4, as previously communicated by Infinity Ward.

The new toggle requires new technology that will only be available from Season 1, according to an Activision social media post. This explains why the feature was not available in previous titles like Black Ops 6.

Weapons from Modern Warfare 2 through Black Ops 7 will continue to be accessible via the Legacy tab in Warzone's Loadout menu. While these weapons will remain usable, Gunsmith functionality and prior Custom Loadouts will not be supported for legacy weapons or blueprints. Instead, a five-attachment version of each legacy base weapon will be provided, along with any blueprints that include their original attachment setups.

Activision's objective for this chapter of Warzone is to ensure the weapon meta feels distinctly rooted in Modern Warfare 4 while still providing access to nostalgic options. Raven Software will continue to balance weapons on a biweekly basis to maintain a fluid and interesting Modern Warfare 4 weapon lineup throughout each season.
