Capcom has opened its first U.S. retail location as a pop-up shop in Los Angeles. The store, situated in Little Akihabara within Little Tokyo, began its operations on Saturday, September 19.
The pop-up will be open through October 18 at 319 E 2nd St. #122, operating daily from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitors can expect to find a variety of merchandise, including plushies, t-shirts, and keychains. The store will also feature life-size statues of popular characters from the Street Fighter and Mega Man franchises, as well as playable demos of other Capcom titles.
Attendees on opening weekend had the opportunity to play the upcoming Mega Man: Dual Override. The first 50 shoppers on both September 19 and 20 received a limited-edition Tokyo Game Show handkerchief featuring various Capcom games.
This venture follows a successful year for Capcom, with titles like Resident Evil Requiem selling over 7 million units and Pragmata achieving more than 2 million sales in its first 16 days, making a sequel likely. Onimusha: Way of the Sword also garnered a 10 out of 10 review score from IGN. Looking ahead, Capcom has stated its intention to "re-activate IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently," potentially signaling revivals for franchises such as Dino Crisis, Dead Rising, or Lost Planet.
