Capcom has released its latest financial report, detailing significant sales achievements for several of its key titles. The period from April 1 to September 30 saw robust growth in both revenue and profit, largely propelled by digital sales, which continue to form the bulk of the publisher's income. This fiscal half-year was particularly strong due to the release and ongoing success of multiple games.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword has now achieved over 1.7 million copies sold, a notable increase from its launch performance. Pragmata, another title contributing to Capcom's success, has reached 2.7 million copies sold, more than doubling its initial two-day sales figures. Resident Evil Requiem has also seen continued strong performance, surpassing 8.5 million copies sold.
Capcom recorded its highest-ever unit sales for the first half of any fiscal year, a success attributed to its extensive back-catalog and consistent sales promotions. However, conspicuously absent from this otherwise positive report are any updated sales figures for Monster Hunter Wilds. The publisher made no mention of sales for the highly anticipated title, even as it provided an update for its predecessor, Monster Hunter: World, which has now sold over 30 million copies.
Monster Hunter Wilds experienced a successful launch, but its player base reportedly decreased significantly shortly after. The previous fiscal year's report indicated that Monster Hunter Wilds had sold close to 11 million copies overall, but no subsequent update has been provided. This omission raises questions about whether sales have slowed to a point where Capcom deems them unmentionable, or if other factors are at play. With the game slated for release on Switch 2 in December and the Ascendance expansion due next year, further updates on its performance may still be forthcoming.
