Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Adds New Costumes and Boss Strategies

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse has introduced a variety of cosmetic options for its protagonist, Rose Belmont, alongside detailed guides for its challenging boss encounters. Players can now unlock and equip seven distinct costumes, each offering a nod to the franchise's rich history.

All Costumes in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

Four of Rose's seven costumes are available from the start or through normal gameplay progression. The remaining three are tied to special editions or pre-orders. The default "Rose's Outfit" is accessible immediately. The "Doppelganger Costume" becomes available after Rose confronts her dark reflection within the game. To obtain the "Cursed Costume," players must achieve the bad ending, which involves succumbing to vengeance and disregarding advice from companions.

Iconic Castlevania Homages

Fans can further customize Rose's appearance with costumes referencing iconic characters from the Castlevania series. The "Sonia Style Costume," which transforms Rose to resemble Sonia Belmont from Castlevania Legends, can be unlocked by entering the Konami code (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A) at any point in the game. This skin features Sonia's distinctive blonde hair, green leotard, and purple overcoat.

Pre-ordering the game grants access to the "Alucard Style Costume," inspired by the Prince of Darkness's appearance in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Additionally, purchasing the "Midnight Edition" of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse unlocks the "Trevor Style Costume" and the "Sypha Style Costume." The Trevor costume channels his look from Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, while the Sypha costume draws inspiration from her portrayal in the Netflix series, offering Rose the elegance of a sorceress.

Boss Encounters

Beyond cosmetic changes, the game also presents a significant challenge through its boss encounters. Castlevania: Belmont's Curse features 16 bosses, ranging from familiar faces like Medusa and Death to original adversaries. Players are advised to focus on learning enemy patterns and reflexes, as bosses are noted to be particularly aggressive and hit hard. Adjusting damage sliders in the gameplay settings or enabling respawns in front of boss doors can offer an alternative difficulty.

Early bosses such as The Fallen and Joan require mastery of dash mechanics and pattern recognition. Medusa demands careful use of the Holy Cross and strategic use of environmental cover to avoid petrifying rays. The first encounter with Death in the Catacombs is presented as an unwinnable fight, intended to highlight Rose's current limitations.

Later bosses, including Isaac and Carmilla, introduce more complex mechanics. Isaac, appearing in the Main Hall, requires players to be wary of his spear's range and utilize parrying if possible. Carmilla employs a blood curse mechanic, represented by a countdown number, and her attacks are only vulnerable after destroying her skull shields. Strategies for overcoming these and other foes, including Dracula himself, are detailed for players seeking to conquer the game's toughest challenges.
