CD Projekt Red Details Upcoming Witcher 3 Remastered Patches Amidst Player Concerns

CD Projekt Red has outlined its plans for future updates to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's recently released Remastered edition, addressing community feedback on remaining issues. The developer acknowledged that patching efforts are ongoing, with a focus on several key areas.

According to a recent post on X, CD Projekt Red stated that "further performance improvements, particularly on PS5," are a top priority. Additionally, the company is working on "further visual adjustments" and "voiceover audio fixes on consoles." These fixes are expected to be included in the next update. CD Projekt Red also indicated that it is investigating other reported issues and encouraged players to continue submitting reports through their support portal.

The developer also mentioned ongoing work to "bring more mods across all platforms" in collaboration with mod.io. Cross-platform mod support was introduced with the Remastered edition.

This news follows a somewhat turbulent launch for The Witcher 3's updated version. Shortly after its release, players surfaced various technical problems, alongside aesthetic complaints regarding changes to the game's lighting, which CD Projekt Red had previously addressed with hotfixes.

Despite these efforts, some community members have expressed dissatisfaction. Comments on X highlight frustration that CD Projekt Red is focusing on features like Twitch Drops and Ukrainian localization while significant bugs remain. One widely-liked comment read, "I'm glad you're focused on Twitch drops ... while there are game breaking bugs."

Some players on PS5 have specifically requested the return of the next-gen version, expressing a preference for it over the current iteration and seeking the option to revert if desired. While PC players can roll back to previous versions, this option is not available on consoles.

The Remastered edition of The Witcher 3 represents a substantial overhaul, featuring redrawn textures, updated environments, and improved animations and skills. This update, released 11 years after the game's initial launch and offered as a free upgrade, has also raised the game's minimum system requirements. The modernization effort is intended to prepare the game for its next expansion, "Songs of the Past," scheduled for release next year. The Remastered edition has reportedly seen a resurgence in player numbers and sales since its launch.
