Charlie Cox, known for his role as Daredevil in Marvel's upcoming "Born Again" series, has confirmed his involvement in an unannounced video game developed by Sega. Cox revealed the news at New York Comic Con, stating that he has already finished recording his lines for the project. This marks his second venture into video game voice acting, following his role as Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
During the recording sessions for his previous game, Cox's natural English accent reportedly surprised the development team, who had initially expected an American voice for the character. Cox recalled the studio's reaction: "I was like, 'Hi guys, nice to meet you! How are you?' And all of them went, 'Oh, he’s English.' They’d wanted [the character] to be American. But now I’ve got to do 40 hours of lines I’ve not prepared in an accent. Yeah, I think they thought I was American."
While his role in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 required approximately four to eight hours of recording, the 40 hours spent on the new Sega game suggests a more significant part for Cox. He previously expressed feeling like a "total fraud" after Expedition 33's positive reception, attributing much of the performance credit to motion-capture actor Maxence Cazorla. Cox was nominated for Best Performance at The Game Awards for his work on the title.
Cox was attending NYCC to promote the upcoming third and final season of Daredevil: Born Again, which is set to premiere next spring and will feature the reunion of the Defenders.
