Chris Hansen has announced that he is working on his own documentary project, titled "I Am Chris Hansen," in response to the recently released A24 film "Primetime." Hansen, who claims he was not approached by the studio regarding the film, watched "Primetime" and described it as a "fever dream" that was "so detached from reality."
During an interview on Jesse Watters' YouTube channel, Hansen stated that his documentary project was in development long before "Primetime" was announced. His agents are currently presenting the project to various platforms on the West Coast. Hansen gave "Primetime" a grade of D, noting that while Robert Pattinson's performance was commendable, the portrayal of himself deviated significantly from reality, making it difficult for him to feel offended by the film.
Hansen specifically cited a scene in "Primetime" where Pattinson's character is depicted shirtless in front of a mirror rehearsing lines. According to Hansen, this scene, like "almost every one" depicted in the film, did not happen. He also expressed that the movie felt like a "hit piece" on him and his work exposing individuals who harm children, calling it an insult to those dedicated to similar efforts.
Prior to viewing the film, Hansen had publicly criticized it as a "very dramatized version" of events and had purchased advertisements for his own true crime streaming platform to play before screenings of "Primetime." In contrast, IGN's review awarded the film a 9 out of 10, describing it as a "blast from the past with a sickly allure."
