Christopher Abbott's Professor X Will Not Appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars

Professor X actor Christopher Abbott has stated that he will not appear in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars. Abbott, who is set to portray the iconic mutant leader in the 2028 X-Men reboot, explained that his commitment is to the X-Men project first, and he has no additional team-up movies on his schedule.

During a conversation with Rolling Stone, when pressed about potential cameo appearances before his X-Men debut, Abbott was direct. "I don't think so," he said, when asked if he would show up in any cameo roles before X-Men. "I gotta do the X-Men movie first before any of that stuff."

When specifically asked if he would be featured in Doomsday, Abbott replied, "No, I'm not in that." He acknowledged that Marvel often features cameos, particularly in its large-scale event films like Doomsday and Secret Wars, but insisted that his involvement is limited to the forthcoming X-Men film.

Marvel Studios confirmed Abbott's casting as Professor X earlier this year, with the X-Men reboot slated for a May 2028 release. While Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for December 18, 2026, and Secret Wars for December 17, 2027, Abbott's comments suggest an early MCU introduction for his version of Charles Xavier is unlikely.

Abbott will be joined in the X-Men reboot by Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Maya Boyd as Storm, and Asa Germann as Angel, among others. The film is set to unite the new team of mutants on screen in May 2028.
