Christopher Nolan’s 2006 mystery thriller, The Prestige, is set to return to theaters for its 20th anniversary. The Walt Disney Studios rerelease, scheduled for January 29, 2027, will include screenings in IMAX and 70mm formats for the first time.
Based on Christopher Priest’s novel, The Prestige stars Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale as rival magicians, Robert Angier and Alfred Borden, in turn-of-the-century London. The film chronicles their escalating feud, fueled by obsession and sabotage, as they strive to become the greatest illusionist. The narrative employs Nolan’s signature nonlinear storytelling, weaving a complex tale of deception and ambition.
The film also features performances from Michael Caine, Scarlett Johansson, Rebecca Hall, Andy Serkis, and David Bowie. Upon its initial release, The Prestige garnered positive reviews and earned two Academy Award nominations. Over the years, its intricate plot and memorable conclusion have solidified its status as one of Nolan's most enduring works. This theatrical re-release offers audiences an opportunity to experience the film's mysteries on the big screen in enhanced formats.
