Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Other Titles Departing Game Pass This October

Several notable titles are set to leave Xbox Game Pass in October, including the critically acclaimed RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Players have until October 15 to dive into the turn-based RPG, which was a day-one release on the service and has been praised for its novel dodge and parry mechanics and its engaging narrative.

A full playthrough of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 can be completed in under 30 hours for the main story, though a completionist run extends to over twice that. The game's success in reaching a broader audience highlights its ability to blend JRPG elements with modern mechanics. A review-in-progress noted its GOTY potential and called it one of the best third-party releases on Game Pass.

Beyond Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the service will also lose The Casting of Frank Stone, Crime Scene Cleaner, Donut County, Evil West, Superball, Nova Roma (Game Preview), Pacific Drive, and A Plague Tale Requiem. Among these, Pacific Drive, a sci-fi survival crafting game focused on navigating anomalous zones, and A Plague Tale Requiem, a narrative-driven title set in plague-ridden medieval Europe, are particularly noted for their thematic relevance to the spooky month of October.

Donut County, a lighthearted indie puzzle game, is also departing. Despite its brief playtime, it has been recognized as a standout title.
