Clark Gregg, renowned for his portrayal of Agent Phil Coulson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has alluded to a potential connection with the recently announced Marvel television series, Zodiac. The actor shared the announcement for the new show on his Instagram, fueling speculation among fans.
Marvel officially revealed Zodiac during a New York Comic Con panel, presenting a logo and a 2028 release window. The series is described as a spy thriller, and its logo features a stylized eagle head within the letter 'a' of the title, reminiscent of the SHIELD emblem. "For anyone who knows the comics, if you look closely at this title design, you’ll see a few clues about where we’re going," Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum stated at the panel. "We're going to start casting it in a couple weeks.”
The series 'Agents of SHIELD,' which concluded in 2020, saw Gregg's character, Agent Coulson, return in an android form. However, the show's canonicity within the official MCU timeline has been a subject of discussion, as it is not currently listed in Disney+'s "MCU Complete Timeline." Chloe Bennet, who played Daisy Johnson in 'Agents of SHIELD,' has previously expressed frustration over the show's canon status but indicated willingness to reprise her role.
Zodiac is named after a comic organization composed of villains identified by their zodiac signs, notably including Scorpio, who is Nick Fury's brother. Fans have expressed hope for Samuel L. Jackson's potential appearance as Nick Fury in the series, given this connection.
In other Marvel television news, 'Daredevil: Born Again' is reportedly set to conclude with its third season. Ahead of its finale, 'VisionQuest' is scheduled for release on Disney+ on October 14, with showrunners stating they focused on their narrative without significant concern for the broader MCU continuity. 'VisionQuest' will feature Paul Bettany returning as Vision, on the run from those seeking to weaponize him, and will be an eight-episode limited series.
