Indie developer Aggro Crab has announced that its co-op climbing game, Peak, will receive its final major update on August 11. The update promises a "new secret for you to discover," alongside the rotation of variant biomes.

The update will see the departure of Gloom and The Citadel biomes, replaced by Caldera and The Kiln. This marks the conclusion of major content additions for Peak, a game that has seen significant success for publisher Landfall, joining hits like Content Warning and Totally Accurate Battlegrounds.

Peak has been lauded for its engaging climbing mechanics and pure design. Contributing editor Christian Donlan described it as a "new gaming obsession" last year, noting its great fun and advising players to be cautious with certain in-game mushrooms.

The game's success has also led to the emergence of numerous clones. In response, Aggro Crab has expressed a preference for its community to pirate the original game rather than engage with "microtransaction-riddled" imitations. The studio has also defended co-op games that deliver "a specific experience," highlighting their cost-effectiveness for indie development and refuting criticisms of "friendslop" titles.
