Commodore has officially unveiled the Commodore 77, a new iteration of its classic computer developed in collaboration with CD Projekt Red, inspired by the world of Cyberpunk 2077. The updated machine is now available for preorder.

The Commodore 77 boasts a distinct visual overhaul, featuring a brushed metal plate on its function keys and a case colored to match the Cyberpunk aesthetic. The iconic Commodore 64 badge has been replaced with a Commodore 77 logo, and the entire exterior is designed with a weathered, cyberpunk-inspired look.

Internally, the Commodore 77 sees a significant performance increase over its predecessor. It can operate at 77MHz, a substantial leap from the original Commodore 64's 1MHz, and features 77MB of system RAM, up from the previous model's 16MB. While this power boost is notable, the system includes a toggle in its menus to disable the higher speed, preventing compatibility issues with older custom programs.

The new model also includes a custom Cyberpunk 2077-themed boot screen for its BASIC 2.0 environment. The accompanying manual, traditionally spiral-bound, has also received a Cyberpunk facelift, including lore and exclusive type-in BASIC programs themed around Cyberpunk 2077.

Each Commodore 77 will ship with an Arasaka cartridge containing a demo created by the Polish demo group Arise. The soundtrack for this demo was composed by chiptune artist LukHash and utilizes the computer's 24-track stereo SID chip. The package also includes collectible items such as stickers and pins, all presented in themed packaging.

Additionally, the Commodore 77 features LED lights that synchronize with the demo's music. Preorders for the Commodore 77 are currently open on Commodore's website, priced at $377, with an expected release date set for next year.
