While Control Resonant boasts striking visuals and a compelling atmosphere perfect for virtual photography, a native photo mode has been conspicuously absent since launch. Fortunately, PC players can now leverage a robust mod to capture stunning in-game moments, with Remedy Entertainment confirming an official photo mode is slated for a November release on consoles.
The PC mod, developed by Nexus Mods user Kkyleeb21, provides a comprehensive suite of features inspired by Alan Wake 2's photo mode. It enables a free camera and freezes in-game time, allowing players to adjust presets, control exposure and depth of field, crop images, and apply one of six filters. This mod offers a temporary solution for players eager to document their journey through the game's eerie world.
Remedy Entertainment acknowledged the community's desire for a photo mode in a recent blog post, stating that its development was a priority after ensuring the game's overall stability. "We even consulted some talented virtual photographers from the community to help us make it the best it can be," the studio wrote. "The reason Photo Mode didn’t release on launch is because we needed to prioritize making sure the game was in the best possible shape."
In addition to the upcoming photo mode, a significant update, version 1.4.0, has been released for Control Resonant. This patch introduces an enhanced New Game+ mode, allowing for infinite playthroughs. The update also includes numerous bug fixes, gameplay balance adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements. Players will now find build power more readily accessible on the loadout screen, and pinned materials for upgrades will be visible on the vendor map icon. The intensity of combat in the Unknown Zone has been reduced, and a separate volume slider for radio dialogue has been added. Furthermore, the Assist Mode now includes a Power Core Charge Duration multiplier, and support for Razer haptics has been implemented.
The update also addresses several technical issues, including fixes for map marker inaccuracies, a VFX problem during the Artist Resonant fight that could cause framerate drops, and over-saturated HDR highlights. Players now have the option to mute the copyrighted intro song by Apocalyptica. Subtitle and voice-over issues have also been resolved, alongside various other optimizations for audio, dialogue timing, lighting, and the user interface. Console players on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 will need to wait until November for the official photo mode to become available.
