Control Resonant will miss its original physical release date, developer Remedy announced. While the digital version for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S will still launch on September 24, fans opting for a physical copy will now need to wait until October 15.
"We need just a little more time to deliver the physical version to you, but rest assured - nothing stays contained forever," Remedy stated in a social media announcement. This delay means players who choose the physical edition will have a nearly three-week wait after the digital launch. Remedy boss Jean-Charles Gaudechon previously positioned Control Resonant as a "must-have day-one purchase" and emphasized its quality in a competitive autumn release window.
Earlier previews have suggested the game will lean heavily into melee combat, a departure from the physics-driven third-person shooting of its predecessor. IGN noted after a hands-on preview that this new direction appeared to be a "potent mix."
