Control: Resonant Receives Day One Hotfix for Combat and Stun Adjustments

Control: Resonant has launched today, and Remedy Entertainment has already released a hotfix, patch 1.3.3, to refine the combat experience. The update primarily targets enemy health pools, the effectiveness of the stun (Falter) mechanic, and the overall combat strength of the player character, Dylan.

Remedy stated that feedback indicated enemy health pools were too high, making it difficult to stun enemies for executions, and that Dylan's early-game combat strength felt insufficient. The hotfix reduces the base health and Falter requirements for most enemies, including the Dancer and Deserter bosses. It also increases the Aberrant and Ability Strength stats, with these increases becoming more significant as players progress and acquire more upgrades, leading to higher damage output.

Beyond combat adjustments, the update makes respeccing easier by reducing the cost of resetting ability points and increasing the number of "Reset Items" available from vendors. The game's first boss will now also drop two "Reset Items" instead of one. Additionally, the English UI text for Build Power and Aberrant Strength has been clarified for better player understanding.

In a review of the action RPG, it was noted that the Falter infliction buffs are substantial, as the poise/execution system was not significantly utilized during a playthrough due to enemies being defeated before the stun threshold was reached. The reviewer praised Remedy's execution of the game's ambition and its fresh take on familiar settings, expressing hope for future installments featuring the Faden twins.
