Remedy Entertainment announced that its latest game, Control Resonant, has sold over one million copies in just three weeks. This milestone makes Control Resonant the fastest-selling game in the studio's 31-year history, surpassing its previous record holder, Alan Wake 2.
While one million copies in three weeks may not match the rapid sales of some industry blockbusters, it represents a significant achievement for Remedy. The studio has historically produced critically acclaimed titles, but has not always seen commensurate sales figures. For context, Alan Wake 2 took two months to reach one million copies sold, though it did eventually become profitable for Remedy after selling over two million copies and more than a year on the market.
Remedy's new CEO, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, who took over in February with a mandate to lead the company toward "profitable growth," expressed optimism about Control Resonant's performance. "A huge thank you goes to our players and to the team, who have made Control Resonant the incredible game that it is," Gaudechon stated. He highlighted the game's success as a self-published title during a competitive release window, noting that it has connected with both existing fans and new players.
"We have always believed Control deserved an even bigger audience, and this launch shows what's possible," Gaudechon added. "Our focus is to build on what makes them special, support them, and grow them even further. There is a lot more to come from these worlds." Remedy currently has two established franchises, Control and Alan Wake, with plans to expand upon them.
Further insights into Control Resonant's impact on Remedy's financial performance are expected in the company's Q3 business review, scheduled for November 3.
