Control Resonant Sells Over 1 Million Copies, Becomes Remedy's Fastest-Selling Game

Control Resonant has become the fastest-selling game in Remedy Entertainment's 31-year history, surpassing one million copies sold just three weeks after launch. The developer announced the milestone yesterday, noting that the game's performance outpaced previous Remedy titles, including Alan Wake 2 and the original Control.

Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon stated that this represents a "very strong start" for the studio's first self-published release of this scale. He highlighted that Control Resonant launched during a competitive period, releasing alongside major industry titles. Gaudechon expressed confidence that the game is connecting with both existing fans and new players, strengthening its long-term potential.

Gaudechon also reaffirmed Remedy's commitment to building upon its established franchises, Control and Alan Wake. "Our focus is to build on what makes them special, support them, and grow them even further. There is a lot more to come from these worlds," he said.

While specific sales data for the original Control was not provided for direct comparison, it had sold 2 million copies by the end of 2020. Alan Wake 2, previously Remedy's fastest-selling game, took approximately two months to reach the one million sales mark. Notably, Control Resonant has achieved its sales success despite receiving a lower critical rating compared to its predecessors. The Eurogamer review awarded it three stars, suggesting it attempted to emulate live-service game elements while echoing the narrative structure of the original Control with mixed success.

Control Resonant now joins other recent titles such as The Blood of Dawnwalker, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Star Wars Zero Company, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve in selling over one million copies.
