Crimson Desert Enhanced Edition is offering a limited-time free trial on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, allowing players to experience the first five hours of the game. This trial is available from October 29 to January 6.
On PlayStation 5, the trial requires a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. Xbox players can access the trial regardless of their subscription status. The trial covers the base Crimson Desert Enhanced game and does not extend to the newly released Charting the Unknown DLC. Any progress made during the trial can be transferred to the full game should players decide to purchase it.
Crimson Desert, released earlier this year, has achieved significant commercial success. The game sold over six million copies within its first three months, contributing to a substantial increase in publisher Pearl Abyss's revenue. In response to the game's profitability, Pearl Abyss reportedly gave each employee at development studio a $3,400 bonus. The development team has since focused on improving the game and addressing issues present at launch through regular updates.
The free trial coincides with the launch of the Charting the Unknown DLC, which was released yesterday. Pearl Abyss has indicated that more DLC is planned, and a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently in development. The company has also hinted at future multiplayer-focused content and a potential sequel.
