Crimson Desert Enhanced has been released as a free upgrade for all players, incorporating all previously released patches and post-launch content alongside significant new additions. The update, coinciding with patch 2.00, revamps the game's story with new cutscenes and narrative moments.

Developer Pearl Abyss has expanded the game's localization, with Enhanced launching with new voice languages including German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Japanese. Arabic subtitles and user interface text have also been added.

The skill system has undergone a substantial overhaul with the introduction of Abyss Link. This new resource can be spent on learning skills, and is tied to Abyss Artifacts. When an Abyss Artifact is used, other characters in the player's roster are awarded Abyss Links to invest in skill progression. Each character possesses a unique Abyss Links inventory, allowing for diverse builds that do not interfere with one another. Skill progression can also be reset individually for each character, refunding all spent Abyss Links.

In addition to the system-wide changes, eight new skills are now available to find and equip. These new skills become accessible after progressing to a certain point in the main story.

Patch 2.00 is now live on all platforms, with the exception of the Mac App Store, where it is slated for a later release. The patch automatically upgrades the game to the Enhanced edition upon installation. To commemorate the launch, Crimson Desert is currently available at a 20 percent discount.

Crimson Desert has achieved significant commercial success, selling over six million copies within its first three months. Pearl Abyss has also confirmed that a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is in development, and has hinted at future multiplayer-focused expansions and potential sequels.
