Crimson Desert's Charting the Unknown expansion has been released, introducing a variety of new content including endgame challenges, housing options, a romance system, and a new sailing mechanic.
Shipbuilding and Ocean Exploration
Players can unlock the ability to build or purchase their first ship after completing the "Expanding the Camp" quest, which is part of the "Grounds of the Sunrise" Greymane faction questline. This quest also initiates the new ocean story, tasking players with exploring the treacherous coasts and islands of Pywel. Further upgrades to medium or large ships are available, costing 1.2 million or 6 million camp funds respectively, or players can build them at a lower fund cost but with a higher material requirement.
Garden of Trials and New Story Quests
The Garden of Trials, a new set of combat challenges, becomes available after completing the game's main story. To access it, players must visit the Axiom Archive in the abyss, near where Alustin is first encountered. A new annex can be found by turning right before the building's staircase. Additional story quests for characters Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane will also become available after the main story concludes in Pailune and Demeniss, respectively, introducing new combat encounters.
Romances
A romance system has been implemented, allowing Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane to pursue relationships with specific NPCs. Players can check an NPC's interaction menu to see if romance is a possibility. After reaching 100 trust with an NPC, a "seduce" option becomes available. Once likability is full, players can then "propose." The four witches also offer new faction quests that aid in building trust and likability. Married NPCs can either follow the player or reside at their house, and players also have the option to divorce their spouse.
New Housing and Management Facilities
An upgraded housing mode and new management facilities are also part of the Charting the Unknown expansion. Unlocking the Greymane Camp on Howling Hill and completing Luke's request in "Grounds of the Sunrise" grants access to new housing options. This camp unlock also reveals "facility" icons on the map, indicating rentable strongholds that can serve as new management facilities. Access to these facilities requires liberating the region and completing its associated faction quests.
