Pearl Abyss has unveiled details for the upcoming Crimson Desert DLC, Charting the Unknown, outlining a wealth of new content including expanded ocean exploration, shipbuilding, romance options, housing customization, and business management.
New Stories and Characters
The DLC introduces new character-focused stories for playable characters Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka. Following the resolution of the conflicts involving the Greymanes and Pywell, these characters will embark on new journeys, encountering both familiar and new allies and adversaries. Cutscenes will drive the narrative forward in these expanded individual storylines.
Ocean Exploration and Shipbuilding
The Great Ocean area of Pywel will be significantly expanded in Charting the Unknown. After establishing the Greymane camp, players can unlock shipbuilding capabilities. This allows for the construction and customization of personal vessels before setting sail. The expansion includes ship combat, the establishment of new strongholds with the Greymanes, and the opportunity to earn new rewards. Players can also craft dive suits to explore deeper underwater environments, discovering sunken ruins, treasure, and resources. Sea creatures can also be ridden for traversal beneath the waves.
Romance and Marriage System
Charting the Unknown will allow players to develop romantic relationships with certain characters, potentially leading to marriage. The DLC previews indicate dialogue options for expressing affection, such as giving compliments or confessing feelings. Close companions may also visit the player's Greymane Camp for social interactions.
Housing Customization
Players will have greater freedom in designing their homes, with the ability to customize the structure from the ground up, including the placement of walls and windows. Additionally, liberated castles can be claimed and their interiors decorated, serving as personalized player housing.
Business Management
The business management system allows players to directly manage liberated strongholds. This involves leasing facilities across Pywel, assigning comrades and equipment, selecting goods for sale, and optimizing business operations to increase profits and recognition.
New Boss Challenges
For players seeking a higher difficulty, the DLC introduces a new challenge where players face a series of powerful bosses consecutively. Success in these encounters promises valuable rewards.
Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown is scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026. The release will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
