Pearl Abyss has announced that the first post-launch downloadable content for Crimson Desert, titled Charting the Unknown, will be released on October 15. This DLC will introduce a new set of story missions that follow the characters Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane as they explore deeper into the continent of Pywel.

The announcement, made during a recent State of Play broadcast, also provided a glimpse into the game's homesteading and home-building mechanics, as well as what appears to be a marriage proposal and romance system. Players who pre-order Charting the Unknown will receive the Charter's and Charter's Light Diving sets as a bonus.

This DLC follows the recent release of the Enhanced free upgrade for Crimson Desert, which consolidated all previous patches, introduced new skills, enhanced story elements, added multiple new languages, and revamped the character skill acquisition system.

Developer Pearl Abyss had previously confirmed in June that DLC content was planned for Crimson Desert. The studio also announced in August that a version of Crimson Desert is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, and that they are exploring the possibility of multiplayer and live service models for the franchise. These aspects were not featured in the recent reveal.
