Pearl Abyss has released Patch 1.13 for Crimson Desert, a significant update aimed at bolstering the gameplay experience for characters Damiane and Oongka. The patch follows through on promises made in a June roadmap to give these characters a more prominent role alongside Kliff.

Previously, Damiane and Oongka had fewer customization options, limited access to certain areas, and fewer abilities compared to Kliff. This update addresses those shortcomings by introducing a wealth of new outfits and granting them access to the Abyss, a key area previously inaccessible to them. Oongka can now equip most of the same outfits as Kliff, with 39 new pieces added. Damiane receives 8 new armor pieces and can equip outfits themed after the Odeck, Dark Marksman, and Masked Liberator bosses.

The ability to enter the Abyss is a substantial addition, allowing players to explore a major part of the game that was previously off-limits for these characters. The locations of memory fragments for certain rematchable bosses within the Abyss have also been shuffled, encouraging players to revisit the area with Damiane and Oongka.

Beyond character-specific improvements, Patch 1.13 also includes several new features and general enhancements. Players can now have summoned pets rest with them when in bed, and a new option allows for hiding the minimap and other HUD elements. A new item, the "Hunter's Sigil," enables bird pets to retrieve specialized prey and gatherable items. Crafting recipes for four types of carpets have been added, and special attacks have been introduced for several enemies including the Flame Knight and Wyvernflames.

The update addresses numerous bugs and technical issues across various aspects of the game, including combat, controls, UI, graphics, and localization. For instance, improved controls allow for immediate use of Axiom Force on targets during soft lock-on, and Muskets and pistols can now be fired while sliding. Several character-specific control issues for Damiane and Oongka have been resolved, alongside fixes for combat animations and skill activations.

UI improvements include changes to the Dye UI to prevent selection of undyeable items and a streamlined minimap display that shows only the currently tracked quest. Graphical fixes include improvements for stuttering cutscenes on PlayStation 5 and reduced loading times. The update also refines various in-game systems, such as housing and quest progression, ensuring a smoother overall experience. Patch 1.13 is now available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
