Development on Critical Role's original video game, set in its established Exandria world, is moving forward, according to voice actor Laura Bailey.
Critical Role, the popular Dungeons & Dragons livestream franchise, announced its partnership with AdHoc Studio last July to create a video game. This collaboration follows their previous work on the superhero management simulator, Dispatch. The move into video game development was a long-anticipated step, especially given the significant funding and success of the studio's Amazon Prime series.
In a recent appearance on Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals, Bailey, who voices characters such as Thimble, Jester Lavorre, and Vex'ahlia, shared an update on the project. While adhering to confidentiality, she indicated that the game's development is active and progressing positively. "Things are shakin', they're movin', they're shakin', I can't say anything else other than that," Bailey stated, adding that "There's a lot of work being done and a lot of talks happening, and a lot of fun things I get to look at—and I can't say anything else."
This confirmation from Bailey suggests that the project has moved beyond initial announcements into pre-production or early development stages. Reports from a 2025 Variety interview indicated that the game was envisioned with a relatively modest scope and a development timeline of a couple of years. Given that approximately a year has passed since that timeline was established, Bailey's comments imply substantial progress.
The assurance that the game is developing well comes at a time when the gaming landscape has faced challenges. For fans of Critical Role, particularly those who have followed the series since its inception, the prospect of a dedicated Exandrian video game is met with considerable anticipation.
