Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 Update Adds New Quests, Features, and Quality-of-Life Improvements

CD Projekt has detailed the contents of the 2.5 update for Cyberpunk 2077, introducing a variety of new features and improvements, some of which are directly inspired by the Netflix anime series, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Edgerunners Content and New Quests

The update brings a new side quest titled "Clampdown," which is set prior to the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. Players can unlock this quest after completing "The Heist" and two gigs for Wakako, followed by waiting for a message. During "Clampdown," a new five-piece gear set based on the character King from the anime will be obtainable. Additionally, a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, has been added, featuring tracks from the Edgerunners series.

Beyond the Edgerunners-themed content, the update includes "Welcome to Paradise!" a new side quest that offers a guided tour of Night City narrated by its founder, Richard Night. This quest becomes available after completing "The Heist" and reaching Street Cred level 15. A further extension of the "Fool on the Hill" side quest adds 12 new Minor Arcana Tarot Cards to discover across the city, with a special reward for collecting them all.

Gameplay and Customization Updates

Version 2.5 introduces significant enhancements to player customization and combat. Players can now personalize their hand cyberware, with Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and Projectile Launch Systems all receiving new visual customization options. These new looks can be acquired from five dedicated Glamdoc shops scattered throughout Night City, each featuring unique intro scenes, voiceovers, animations, and customizable color palettes for cyberware skins.

A notable addition to combat is the "Double Trouble" perk in the Cool skill tree. This perk, supported by four auxiliary perks, enables dual-wielding of Power category Pistols and Revolvers, opening up new combat possibilities and playstyles.

Furthermore, new clothing collections are available from various vendors, including Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch, and IconAmerica sets, with the NUS Infiltrator set also purchasable. Four new TWINTONE skins for the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech are accessible via Twitch Drops. Some hairstyles previously exclusive to NPCs are now available for V, with certain styles being body-type specific.

Photo Mode has also received an upgrade with the addition of frames from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game and new poses designed to showcase dual-wielding capabilities.

Modding, Quality of Life, and Technology

In a significant move for PC and console players, the update introduces Cross-Platform Mod Support through mod.io. This allows players to browse and install community-created mods directly from the in-game menu. The feature is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S.

Quality-of-life improvements include saves in the "Load Game" menu being grouped by playthroughs, item filters for apartment and vehicle stashes, and a dedicated icon to mark modded saves (though achievements and trophies are disabled on console when using modded saves).

Console players will benefit from an added FOV (Field Of View) slider. The game's technological underpinnings have also been enhanced with support for DLSS 4.5, including up to 6X Multi Frame Generation or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation, and the 2nd Generation Transformer Model. Support for glasses-free 3D effects on compatible Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors has been implemented, alongside a Motion Comfort setting. Mac users receive support for MetalFX Frame Interpolation and Denoising. An FSR Anti-Lag 2 toggle has been added to settings.

Performance optimizations have been applied, with specific improvements noted for Ray Tracing and for the PlayStation 5 Pro. HDR rendering has also been improved for more accurate colors, brightness, and contrast on compatible displays.

Fixes

The update addresses numerous bugs, including an issue on Nintendo Switch 2 related to save space errors, a problem with HDR settings on PlayStation 5, and a quest progression blocker involving the Delamain cab in the "Things Done Changed" mission. Fixes for film grain, enemy tagging while scanning, and controller settings for the third-person camera have also been implemented, alongside various other content and feature corrections.
