Cyberpunk 2077 is among the lineup of games set to depart Xbox Game Pass on September 15. The sci-fi RPG, developed by CD Projekt Red, was added to the service in March and will have been available for six months. This departure follows the recent removal of another CD Projekt Red title, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, from Game Pass last month, potentially to drive interest in its upcoming remaster.
While a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is still in development, a second season of the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 20. This renewed interest is likely a factor CD Projekt Red aims to leverage.
Beyond Cyberpunk 2077, nine other games will also be removed from Game Pass on September 15. These include Commandos: Origins, Cricket 24, Dead Cells, Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, Frostpunk 2, Mullet Madjack, Spiritfarer, Superliminal, and Train Sim World 5. The roguelike Metroidvania Dead Cells, a critically acclaimed title from 2018, is a notable departure. Its developer, Evil Empire, is also working on Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, slated for release on October 15.
Spiritfarer, an indie game focused on guiding spirits to the afterlife, is another significant title leaving the service that players may wish to experience before its removal.
In terms of additions, Xbox Game Pass is welcoming seven new titles in early September. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is scheduled to join the service on September 8. Other new additions include Shelldiver, Speedrunners 2: King of Speed, The Royal Writ, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage, and RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
