CD Projekt Red is preparing to release a significant update for Cyberpunk 2077, coinciding with the premiere of the second season of the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. While the official details are expected soon, leaked information suggests the update, dubbed 2.5 or the "Edgerunners 2 update," will arrive on October 22 for PC and consoles, two days after the anime's Netflix debut.
This upcoming patch aims to draw players back to Night City, following CD Projekt Red's consistent support for its titles, including The Witcher 3 which continues to receive updates and new content over a decade after its initial launch. The studio has dedicated considerable resources to refining Cyberpunk 2077 since its challenging 2020 release, improving the game and expanding its player base.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 Update Details Leaked
Details emerging from a now-private video shared by a content creator, as reported by Push Square, indicate a range of new features. Notably, console players will gain the ability to use mods through mod.io, a feature previously implemented in The Witcher 3 Remastered. The Cool skill tree is set to gain a new perk named "Double Trouble," which will enable dual-wielding of pistols and revolvers. Additionally, music from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime will be integrated into a new in-game radio station. The update also promises expanded customization options for cyberware, new hairstyles, and additional clothing choices for V. Players can also look forward to exploring two new side quests.
The Edgerunners 2 update for Cyberpunk 2077 is poised to offer compelling reasons for both existing and returning players to dive back into the game, regardless of their familiarity with the anime series. CD Projekt Red is scheduled to provide further official details during a livestream on October 21 at 11 a.m. ET.
