Cyberpunk 2077 is set to receive a new update this week, dubbed the Edgerunners 2 Update or Update 2.5, in celebration of the release of the second season of the Netflix anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The update will feature "content inspired by the anime," along with a variety of other new items and features, according to CD Projekt Red.
Details about the update's contents will be shared during a livestream scheduled for Wednesday at 11 a.m. EDT. The stream will be available on Twitch, YouTube, and Steam. The Edgerunners 2 Update is slated for release on October 22 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 will follow at a later date.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, a standalone sequel to the 2022 anime, is now available on Netflix. Both seasons of the anime are connected to CD Projekt Red's role-playing game, Cyberpunk 2077, and are set in the futuristic Night City. The new anime season explores the intertwined stories of a veteran edgerunner, a young cinephile, a chrome-obsessed delinquent, and a Snake Nation netrunner, presenting a tale of vengeance and redemption. Polygon's Ryan Epps described the first episode as "a fresh take on a beloved world," praising its visuals and sound design.
